We first met Julie when Stuart Long, who is leading the Action Through Football (ATF), asked her to assist with fundraising. From this partnership, Julie was able to assist the Hub to develop and grow using her expertise in finance and fund raising, being a specialist in the third Sector area (charities). Working with the dedicated team at the Hub, Julie then went on to secure a range of funding from charitable organizations such as, The National Lottery, Children In Need and many more.
Julie was passionate about helping others and she saw the work that she did through Achievement Through Football and The Hub, as the best way to achieve this. Julie had a keen eye to see shortfalls in the needs of communities and then deliver solutions to achieve positive results. Julie was a trained accountant and spent many years in schools financial management. She had a very varied career ranging from being a kennel maid, a fruit picker, a BBC Appointments Officer and a schools financial manager. She loved all animals, but particularly dogs and was a very keen gardener.
Married to John for over 35 years, and with twin boys Michael and David, who were her world. Family and friends were very important to Julie, she was very proud of all the work she did at Hub. Julie was very passionate and inspired, her motto was “Failure is not an option”. She would always encourage people to always try no matter what, and then they could achieve what ever they set their mind to.
Julie was a fighter but sadly she lost her greatest fight against cancer in February 2018. We miss you, you are an inspiration, we wouldn’t be where we are today without you and your passion.
